If there is one thing our country needs most right now, it’s leadership.
An economy in peril… rising gas and food prices… local property taxes out-of-control… fear of losing jobs… record home foreclosures… our national security constantly at risk... and the ever-present threat of terrorism here at home.
Long Islanders are bearing the burden for Washington’s failure to address the needs of middle-class families and seniors on fixed incomes.
In 2006, Democrats took control of Congress promising to turn things around, but two years later, their partisan bickering and “do-nothing” attitude has made things worse.
Unfortunately, our Congresswoman, Carolyn McCarthy is part of the problem. A decade ago, she began as a passionate crusader with good intentions --- but 12 years later, she’s become “defender of the status quo” --- she spends more time with the lobbyists and special interests in Washington and little time with the hardworking people of Long Island.
Partisanship and finger pointing has replaced commonsense and common decency.
We can change Washington, and Long Island… one Congressperson at a time.
Jack Martins is running for Congress because like so many Long Islanders, he’s frustrated with the “in-crowd” Washington politicians’ failure to provide the leadership we need, and deserve.
As Mayor of Mineola, Jack led a once beleaguered village out of despair and destitution, and transformed it into a thriving, prospering community. It took hard work and strong leadership to get taxes & spending under control, to fight the defenders of the status quo, to end politics-as-usual… but Jack Martins got the job done.
When Jack became Mayor of Mineola in 2003, he inherited a local government on the brink of bankruptcy, saddled by debt and deficits, and a shrinking tax base. He “took the bull by the horns” --- made across-the-board budget cuts, personnel changes, froze discretionary spending, and closed the budget deficit he inherited.
Today, our great nation finds itself in crisis caused in large part by a Democrat-controlled Congress unwilling and unable to lead our country in a new direction. Sadly, they have made “change” an empty political slogan instead of a guiding light to achieve reforms that are long overdue.
Jack has what it takes to be our strong voice. He’ll fight to keep our country safe from terrorism. He’ll stand up for traditional family values. He’ll fight EVERY attempt to raise taxes. And he’ll lead the charge for policies that will put our national and regional economy back on track.
This year, we have the opportunity to send Jack Martins to Congress to get the job done for hardworking Long Islanders… no more excuses, no more negative partisanship, no more blame-game… just honest-to-goodness hard work and an unwavering commitment to lead.
