July 22, 2008, Mineola, NY --- Jack Martins For Congress Campaign released the first wave of TV ads that will air throughout the 4th Congressional District beginning Thursday of this week.
“The fundamental changes in we need in Washington begin right here in Nassau County where for 12 years, Rep. McCarthy has ignored the real needs of hardworking Long Island families and defended a do-nothing Congress and Washington gridlock,” said Jack Martins. “We can’t change Washington until we change who we send there to represent us.”
"The lack of an energy policy, the lack of an economic policy, the lack of a comprehensive education policy, the lack of a workable policy addressing health care costs - all speak volumes to Rep. McCarthy's failure to address constituent concerns,” said Martins. “You can't keep sending the same people back to Washington and expect a different result."
This initial wave of TV advertising includes three similar spots that feature over a half-dozen Mayors, local community leaders and the newly elected Majority Leader of the State Senate, Senator Dean Skelos.
“I’m honored Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos would appear in my campaign advertising --- he’s not only the highest-ranking Republican elected official in New York state, but someone who is admired and respected by so many voters of all political persuasions throughout this district,” said Martins.
Jack Martins has been endorsed for Congress by dozens of local officials and community leaders --- Republicans, Democrats and Independents. In addition to Senator Skelos, Hempstead Councilman Ed Ambrosino, Nassau County Legislator Rich Nicolello, Westbury Village Mayor Ernie Strada, East Williston Village Mayor Nancy Zolezzi, East Rockaway Mayor Ed Sieban, Floral Park Village Trustee Mary Grace Tomecki, and East Meadow Chamber of Commerce President Chris Hackert also appear in this first wave of television advertising.
“I’m running a grassroots campaign to bring about real change in the way Washington spends our tax dollars and affects our pocketbooks. Rep. McCarthy has become a defender of the status quo. She’s more comfortable rubbing elbows with Washington lobbyists and the power-elite, than going into the communities of the 4th Congressional District to talk to real people about their real problems,” said Jack Martins.
